Short and sweet Mother’s Day walks in the Lake District (with cake).

🌳 Ambleside to Rydal Caves - walking alongside the River Rothay (approx 50 mins each way). Stop by the Apple Pie Eating House and Bakery once back in Ambleside for a post walk treat.

🌳 Elterwater to Skelwith Force (waterfall)- once you’ve taken in the waterfall, keeping it on your right, carry on for another few minutes to get to Chester’s by the River for coffee and cake or some lunch. Return back to Elterwater (approx 1-2hrs).

🌳 Orrest Head - Windermere - a short walk up a small but rewarding fell offering amazing views of Lake Windermere and neighbouring fells (approx 1-1.5hrs). Finish with a traditional luxury hot chocolate at Choccobar Hot Chocolate House.

There’s a certain decadence in solo female travel. The freedom of not having to answer to anyone but yourself. What you want to see. Where you want to go. When I first solo-travelled at 21, hostels were the right fit- they helped me meet people and grow my confidence at being away from home. But now (clinging onto my 20’s) I prefer boutique luxury accommodation. Places that feel like a home away from home. Quiet spaces to slow down. I look for luxury touches, family feels, soft interiors, safe locations, homemade breakfasts (it’s one less meal to worry about eating out alone).

I still dream back to my time in Granada - the Juliet-balconies open, music playing from below along the cobbled streets of the Paseo de los Tristes, the sound of flamenco reverberating down the 17th century streets.

I’m not an expert, but I’m pretty sure I’ll never look back and say I went on too many adventures.

When my Dad died, everything in me wanted to run — literally. My fight-or-flight was wired to flight, and travelling felt like the only way to breathe again.

Eight years on, I’ve realised life doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. I didn’t have to escape my life to build the one I wanted. Training and qualifying as a Lawyer gave me the structure I needed, and travelling during my annual leave gave me the freedom I craved.

If social media makes it look like everyone else is living your dream life… maybe they’re not. Maybe they’ve just found balance.

Spain’s most beautiful Plaza.
I visited Seville on a solo trip through Andalusia last summer, and Plaza de España was a place I couldn’t stop returning to during my time in the city. It feels unreal when you first walk up to the Plaza— like stepping straight onto a film set (Star Wars actually filmed here!).

It’s free to wander, so I spent hours just sitting on the steps, watching the horse‑drawn carriages loop the square and soaking up the atmosphere. It quickly became one of my favourite spots for people‑watching and photography. If you’re looking for quiet angles- I found the far right‑hand side of the plaza stays quieter and gives you the cleanest shots. I believe the light also hits best here during ‘golden hour’.

Did you know- Every tiled alcove around the crescent represents a different province of Spain? The craftsmanship of the alcoves, and bridges was just beautiful!

5 things no one tells you when you start on Social Media:

They don’t tell you that the people in your real life might not be your audience — and that’s okay. Your friends care about you, but they might not connect with your niche, your style, or the kind of content you’re building. And strangely, it’s often the people who’ve never met you who show up first, who see your work clearly, who cheer you on without hesitation.

They don’t tell you that social media has its own language. Its own rules. Its own rhythm. And you have to learn how to speak it — how to play the game without losing yourself in it. It’s not just posting; it’s understanding timing, hooks, pacing, storytelling, and the invisible mechanics behind what gets seen.

The courage it takes to share the way you see the world when barely anyone is watching. How exposing it feels to put your creative eye out there, to spend hours shaping something meaningful… only to place it into the hands of the algorithm and it not land how you thought it would.

They don’t tell you that some of your best work will underperform. The pieces you poured yourself into might barely move. And the things you created quickly, almost casually, might take off. Sound series pt 3, Sounds of Santorini - including the donkeys and their bells on the path between Oia and Ammoudi Bay. Whilst I don’t support the riding of these beautiful animals up these paths, their sounds form part of the morning soundscape.

The reward for the walk down to Ammoudi Bay is the lapping of the waves (which feel so far away when up on the Caldera) and the joy of watching the fisherman and restauranteurs going about their mornings, bringing in fish and famously hanging out Octopus to dry. On the other side of the island, catching a sunset at one of the quiet beaches (such as Eros or Vlychada beach) can be a beautiful way to end a day on the island.

For me, the sound of cattle bells is synonymous of my time in the Swiss Alps. The bells document the change of the seasons. As the snow melts, cattle are sent to the higher alpine regions. Their bells signalling their location to farmers, with each bell having a unique tone to identify the cattle. After the summer is over, the cattle are brought back down to the villages and celebrated in local festivals (the ‘Alpabzug’ in German speaking regions, or ‘Dèsalpe’ in French speaking regions). During the festivals, cattle are often decorated in beautiful flower crowns and garlands - a homage to Swiss heritage and tradition.

24 hours on Santorini’s Caldera.

The views from Santorini’s Caldera are spectacular day to night. Yet, for me, there’s something in that in-between space, as the last dregs of light cast milky hues of orange, purple and pink above the white-washed villages. There. That’s the real magic.

Almost without missing a beat, as darkness transcends a new magic moves in. Lights from the properties nestled into the cliff-edge twinkle quietly, blue hues from the swim-out pools shimmer, and in the distance the lights from neighbouring villages can be seen sparkling along the ridge of the Caldera.
